Calaca Records is proud to announce the signing of “Mariachi Los Muertos”. Based out of the underworlds of Mexico, this “Day of the Dead” or “Dia De Los Muertos” themed Mariachi band is best known for their fiery compilations of traditional Mexican Music.
“There is more to us than just one holiday…” says founding member “La Llorona”. “We can be spooky and creepy all year long…You listen to our music everyday, but we get packed away, every year in the garage, at the end of our holiday!”
[sticky]“Dia De Los Muertos” is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout the world. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it is a national holiday. The celebration takes place at the end of October, in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods, beverages and music of the departed. It is then customary to visit the graves of the dead with these as gifts.[/sticky]
“Al que ha de ser charro, del cielo le cae el sombrero!” declared “El Rey” leader of “Mariachi Los Muertos”. “There is no walking away from one’s destiny!”. “We love playing mariachi music, we love to dance, and we are tired of 1 gig a year! Calaca Records ‘gets’ us. They understand our music and our frustrations. We need all the help we can get, we are dead!”
Calaca Records is committed to exposing the music of “Mariachi Los Muertos” and has signed the band to a “lifetime / forever” agreement for sound recordings, bookings, and film representation. Look for their new releases on iTunes, Amazon, Pandora, Spotify, and where ever Latin music is played!
